Among these projects, two prominent hydropower initiatives with a combined generation capacity of 426 MW will be undertaken by the state-owned North Eastern Electric Power Corporation (NEEPCO).

A state government official revealed that these hydropower projects, costing around Rs 3,700 crore, are being developed through a partnership between NEEPCO and the Government of Arunachal Pradesh. The projects include the 186-MW Tato-I hydroelectric project and the 240-MW Heo hydroelectric project situated over the Yarjep River in Shi Yomi district, with a total annual generation capacity expected to reach 1803 million units.

Additionally, PM Modi held a large public meeting at the Indira Gandhi Park in the capital.

Prior to the main event, he toured an exhibition where he engaged with local traders, artisans, and craftspersons showcasing their products.

Upon completion of the two power plants, Arunachal Pradesh will receive free power valued at over Rs 98 crore alongside a Local Area Development Fund exceeding Rs 16 crore annually for community growth, as stated by the official.

The Prime Minister also virtually initiated the construction of an advanced integrated convention centre in Tawang, which is projected to cost Rs 147 crore. This centre will not only host meetings and exhibitions but also support livelihoods in tourism, services, and handicrafts.

Moreover, PM Modi laid the foundation for 10 additional infrastructure projects worth Rs 1,291 crore. These include the 1,830-km Frontier Highway project and the second phase of the Vibrant Village Programme (VVP).

Upon finishing the second phase of the VVP, 122 border villages will gain access to all-weather roads, a 4G telecom network, and on-grid electrification.
