New Delhi, Jan 25 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday underscored the importance of National Voters' Day, depicting it as a celebration of India’s vibrant democracy.
Utilizing the social media platform X, PM Modi stressed the necessity of every citizen exercising their voting rights and recognized the vital role of participation in determining the nation's future.
"National Voters' Day signifies celebrating our vibrant democracy and empowering every citizen to utilize their voting rights. It underscores the importance of involvement in shaping the nation’s future. We commend the Election Commission of India for their outstanding efforts in this domain," the Prime Minister expressed, thanking the poll panel for its relentless work in fortifying the democratic framework.

PM Modi noted that this day bears special significance as it denotes the inception of the ECI. He also reflected on historical perspectives, recalling how, during the first general elections of 1951-1952, concerns arose regarding the viability of India's democracy. "Some individuals were doubtful about whether the nation's democracy would endure," he remarked.
Nevertheless, the Prime Minister asserted that India’s democracy had dispelled all doubts, declaring, "India is the mother of democracy."
