New Delhi, Jan 25 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi conveyed his warm wishes to citizens on National Voters' Day, urging everyone to embrace the essence of democracy by actively participating in elections, thereby reinforcing the commitment to a Viksit Bharat.
Every year on January 25, National Voters' Day is commemorated in India to celebrate the establishment of the Election Commission of India (ECI) in 1950. This day serves to honor voters, promote youth engagement, bolster democratic principles, and advocate for universal suffrage.
In a message on X, PM Modi remarked that National Voters' Day is dedicated to "deepening our faith in the democratic values of our nation."
He commended the efforts of the Election Commission of India in fortifying democratic institutions.
"Being a voter transcends mere constitutional right; it is a vital responsibility that allows each citizen to influence India’s future. We must uphold the spirit of democracy by consistently engaging in electoral processes, thereby reinforcing the pillars of a Viksit Bharat," he emphasized.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah also shared his wishes on social media, stating, "This day serves as a reminder that our constitution has granted every voter equal authority, and that a responsible vote can guide our nation in the right direction. It is our ethical duty to protect our electoral system from any external influences that could compromise it."
"On this day, let us recommit to using our votes to forge a developed and robust India," Shah added.
Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare J.P. Nadda expressed his heartfelt greetings, stating, "This day symbolizes the strength of our democracy and the significance of each vote. Voting is not only a democratic right but also a fundamental duty of all citizens."

The ECI plays a crucial role in overseeing, managing, and conducting elections in the world's largest democracy.
To date, it has facilitated 18 general elections and over 400 State Legislative Assembly elections.
