New Delhi, Nov 4 (NationPress) Assam's Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Tuesday, inviting him to inaugurate two significant projects for the people of Assam — the newly constructed terminal at Guwahati’s Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International (LGBI) Airport and the Rs 10,601-crore Ammonia-Urea complex in Namrup.
In a message posted on X, the Chief Minister expressed that the Prime Minister has “graciously agreed” to inaugurate these projects, both of which are anticipated to greatly enhance Assam’s infrastructure and industrial capabilities.
“The new terminal of Guwahati’s LGBI Airport is a modern facility that is set to elevate Guwahati into a prominent aviation hub. It will enable the city to accommodate over 1.3 crore passengers each year,” Sarma noted.
This forthcoming terminal, designed with contemporary architecture and sustainable infrastructure, is aimed at transforming Guwahati into a pivotal gateway to Southeast Asia. Once operational, it will alleviate congestion at the current facility while improving air connectivity and passenger experience throughout the North East.
“The second initiative is the laying of the foundation stone for the Rs 10,601 crore brownfield Ammonia-Urea complex at Namrup. This endeavor will ensure a vital supply of fertilizer for the entire North East,” the CM stated on X.
Sarma emphasized that these two projects represent the Central Government’s unwavering dedication to the advancement of Assam and the North East under PM Modi’s guidance.
“These efforts showcase the transformative path that Assam has been on in recent years, concentrating on connectivity, industrial development, and self-sufficiency,” he added.
Officials indicated that the Prime Minister’s visit to Assam is expected to see extensive public engagement, as these projects are perceived as pivotal for regional progress.
“We are thankful that Adarniya Modi Ji has kindly agreed. We look forward eagerly to his visit,” the Chief Minister concluded.
