Mumbai, Oct 8 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the final segment (2B between Atre Chowk and Cuff Parade) of the Mumbai Metro Line 3, which has been built at an estimated cost of approximately Rs 12,200 crore, on Wednesday.
With this inauguration, he will officially dedicate the complete Mumbai Metro Line 3, also referred to as the Aqua Line, which was constructed at a total expenditure exceeding Rs 37,270 crore. This initiative is anticipated to significantly mitigate vehicular congestion on Mumbai roads and ensure a smoother commuting experience for the city's residents.
The final phase will enhance connectivity to South Mumbai, including areas like Fort, Kala Ghoda, and Marine Drive, while also offering direct access to key administrative and financial institutions, such as the Bombay High Court, Mantralaya, Reserve Bank of India, Bombay Stock Exchange, and Nariman Point.
As reported by the Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC), travel time from Cuffe Parade to Aarey JVLR will be under an hour, with fares ranging from Rs 10 to Rs 70. Trains will be available every five minutes from 5:55 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.
Furthermore, the MMRC has stated that commuters will benefit from environmentally-friendly travel, projected to reduce 2.61 lakh tonnes of CO2 emissions annually. The 33.5 km Mumbai Metro Line 3, which is the first underground metro line, stretches from Cuffe Parade to Aarey (Jogeshwari Vikhroli Link Road) and consists of 27 stations, aimed at serving 13 lakh passengers daily.
Additionally, PM Modi will unveil the “Mumbai One” – an Integrated Common Mobility Application catering to 11 Public Transport Operators (PTO) across various modes including Metro, Monorail, Suburban railways, and Bus PTOs. This includes Mumbai Metro Line 2A & 7, Mumbai Metro Line 3, Mumbai Metro Line 1, Mumbai Monorail, Navi Mumbai Metro, Mumbai Suburban Railway, Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST), Thane Municipal Transport, Mira Bhayander Municipal Transport, Kalyan Dombivali Municipal Transport, and Navi Mumbai Municipal Transport.
The Mumbai One App offers numerous advantages for commuters, including integrated mobile ticketing across various Public Transport Operators, the elimination of queues by encouraging digital payments, and seamless multimodal connectivity through a single dynamic ticket for trips involving different transport modes.
Moreover, it provides real-time updates on journey delays, alternate routes, and estimated arrival times, along with map-based details on nearby stations, attractions, and points of interest, including an SOS feature for commuter safety. Collectively, these features aim to enhance convenience, efficiency, and security, revolutionizing the public transport experience across Mumbai.
