New Delhi, March 8 (NationPress) Today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will officially launch two new corridors of the Delhi Metro and will also lay the groundwork for projects exceeding Rs 18,300 crore in the capital city.
The inaugurated corridors include the Majlis Park to Maujpur-Babarpur (Pink Line) and Deepali Chowk to Majlis Park (Magenta Line). Additionally, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation for three new corridors under the Delhi Metro Phase-V (A), as stated by Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta.
The financial outlay for these metro initiatives surpasses Rs 18,300 crore and is anticipated to significantly enhance public transportation in Delhi, according to CM Gupta.
The Chief Minister elaborated on the Metro projects, emphasizing that these developments will be pivotal in evolving the national capital into a genuinely 'Viksit Delhi.'
The expansion of the Metro network is set to improve public transportation, simplify daily commutes for residents, decrease vehicular congestion on the roads, and aid in pollution control.
The inauguration event will take place at DDA Utsav Sthal-3, located in front of Nirankari Mandal.
CM Gupta noted that the Majlis Park to Maujpur-Babarpur Metro corridor stretches for 12.3 km and comprises eight elevated stations.
This segment is part of the already functional Majlis Park–Shiv Vihar Pink Line.
With the addition of this Metro section, the overall length of the Pink Line will reach approximately 71.56 km, establishing Delhi as home to the nation's first fully operational Ring Metro.
The Prime Minister will also lay the foundation for three additional corridors under Delhi Metro Phase-V (A), which will facilitate easier travel for the city's inhabitants.
These include the Central Vista Corridor from Ramakrishna Ashram Marg to Indraprastha, the extension of the Golden Line from Aerocity to Indira Gandhi Airport Terminal-1, and another extension from Tughlakabad to Kalindi Kunj.
The Central Vista Corridor will measure 9.913 km in length and will be constructed underground, featuring nine new Metro stations: R.K. Ashram Marg (currently under construction), Shivaji Stadium, Yuge-Yugeen Bharat, Central Secretariat, Kartavya Bhavan, India Gate, War Memorial-High Court, Baroda House, Bharat Mandapam, and Indraprastha.
This corridor will enhance Metro connectivity to vital locations such as Kartavya Bhavan, Bharat Mandapam, and the Yuge-Yugeen Bharat Museum.
The Golden Line extension from Aerocity to Indira Gandhi Airport Terminal-1 will span 2.263 km and will be built underground, including one new station while connecting to two existing stations.
The Golden Line extension from Tughlakabad to Kalindi Kunj will be an elevated corridor with a length of 3.9 km. This route will include stations such as Sarita Vihar Depot, Madanpur Khadar, and Kalindi Kunj.
CM Gupta indicated that these projects will also serve cities across the National Capital Region (NCR).
Residents of Faridabad and Ballabhgarh will be able to reach Tughlakabad via the Violet Line and then travel directly to Indira Gandhi Airport Terminal-1 through the Golden Line.
Likewise, passengers from Noida can reach Kalindi Kunj using the Magenta Line and then conveniently access the airport and various areas of South Delhi via the Golden Line.
