Synopsis
Key Takeaways
New Delhi, March 5 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate two fresh Delhi Metro corridors and will also lay the groundwork for projects exceeding Rs 18,300 crore in the national capital on March 8, as announced by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Thursday.
The two Metro corridors include: Majlis Park to Maujpur-Babarpur (Pink Line) and Deepali Chowk to Majlis Park (Magenta Line). Additionally, the foundation stone for three new corridors under Delhi Metro Phase-V (A) will be laid by PM Modi, according to the Chief Minister.
These metro projects, with a total investment surpassing Rs 18,300 crore, are anticipated to significantly enhance public transport facilities in Delhi, stated CM Gupta.
Providing insights into the Metro projects, the Chief Minister noted that these efforts are crucial for evolving the national capital into a genuinely 'Viksit Delhi'.
The expansion of the Metro network will facilitate better public transport, ease daily commutes for residents, decrease vehicular traffic, and contribute to pollution control.
CM Gupta indicated that the inauguration event will take place at DDA Utsav Sthal-3 (located in front of Nirankari Mandal).
The Majlis Park to Maujpur-Babarpur Metro section spans 12.3 km and will feature eight elevated stations.
This corridor is part of the already active Majlis Park–Shiv Vihar Pink Line.
With this new section, the total length of the Pink Line will extend to nearly 71.56 km, positioning Delhi as home to the nation's first fully operational Ring Metro.
Furthermore, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for three new corridors under Delhi Metro Phase-V (A), aimed at simplifying travel for the city’s inhabitants.
These include the Central Vista Corridor from Ramakrishna Ashram Marg to Indraprastha, the Golden Line extension from Aerocity to Indira Gandhi Airport Terminal-1, and another extension from Tughlakabad to Kalindi Kunj.
The Central Vista Corridor will cover 9.913 km and will be constructed underground, featuring nine new Metro stations: R.K. Ashram Marg (currently under construction), Shivaji Stadium, Yuge-Yugeen Bharat, Central Secretariat, Kartavya Bhavan, India Gate, War Memorial-High Court, Baroda House, and Indraprastha.
This corridor aims to connect key locations such as Kartavya Bhavans, Bharat Mandapam, and the Yuge-Yugeen Bharat Museum.
The Golden Line extension from Aerocity to Indira Gandhi Airport Terminal-1 will stretch 2.263 km and will be constructed underground, featuring one new station while connecting two existing stations.
The extension from Tughlakabad to Kalindi Kunj will measure 3.9 km and will be an elevated corridor, with stations including Sarita Vihar Depot, Madanpur Khadar, and Kalindi Kunj.
CM Gupta further noted that these projects will also benefit regions across the National Capital Region (NCR).
Residents from Faridabad and Ballabhgarh will have direct access to Tughlakabad via the Violet Line, allowing them to travel to Indira Gandhi Airport Terminal-1 through the Golden Line.
Similarly, passengers from Noida can reach Kalindi Kunj via the Magenta Line and travel conveniently to the airport and various parts of South Delhi through the Golden Line.
