New Delhi, April 14 (NationPress) Today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will officially launch the Delhi–Dehradun Economic Corridor. Prior to this event, he plans to visit Uttar Pradesh to assess a wildlife corridor and pay his respects at the Kali temple in Uttarakhand.

As part of the itinerary, the Prime Minister will evaluate the Wildlife Corridor located in Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh, according to an official statement.

At approximately 11:40 a.m., PM Modi will conduct Darshan and Pooja at the Jai Maa Daat Kali Temple near Dehradun. Following this, at around 12:30 p.m., he will inaugurate the Delhi-Dehradun Economic Corridor during a public ceremony in Dehradun, where he will also address attendees, as per the statement from the Prime Minister's Office.

This significant project spans 213 km and features a six-lane access-controlled design, which has been developed at an expenditure exceeding Rs 12,000 crore.

Connecting the regions of Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand, this corridor aims to cut travel time between Delhi and Dehradun from more than six hours to roughly two and a half hours, the statement reveals.

The project includes the construction of 10 interchanges, three railway overbridges (ROBs), four major bridges, and 12 wayside amenities, all designed to facilitate high-speed connectivity.

Moreover, the corridor is outfitted with an Advanced Traffic Management System (ATMS) to ensure a safer and more efficient travel experience for commuters.

In light of the region's ecological sensitivity, abundant biodiversity, and wildlife, the corridor has been meticulously engineered with features aimed at significantly decreasing man-animal conflict.

To promote the unhindered movement of wild animals, the project integrates several wildlife protection initiatives, including a 12 km-long elevated wildlife corridor, recognized as one of the longest in Asia.

Additionally, the corridor encompasses eight animal passes, two 200-meter elephant underpasses, and a 370-meter tunnel near the Daat Kali temple, as stated.

The Delhi-Dehradun Economic Corridor is poised to be instrumental in bolstering regional economic growth by improving connections between key tourism and economic hubs, thereby opening new pathways for trade and development throughout the region.
