New Delhi, April 13 (NationPress) On the brink of the inauguration of the Delhi-Dehradun Economic Corridor set for Tuesday afternoon, Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised its wildlife-friendly characteristics and the efficiency in travel time.
In a message shared on X, PM Modi expressed, "Tomorrow, on April 14, I will be visiting Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand. It brings me great joy that the Delhi-Dehradun Economic Corridor will be inaugurated at a ceremony in Dehradun."
This corridor is poised to dramatically shorten the journey between Delhi and Dehradun while benefiting residents of the Delhi NCR, Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand, he noted.
The Prime Minister stated, "A key aspect of this corridor is its focus on preventing man-animal conflict, which is why a 12 km wildlife elevated corridor has been constructed, recognized as one of the longest in Asia."
Prior to the inauguration, PM Modi will assess the wildlife corridor located in Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh, and will also visit a Kali temple in Uttarakhand, as reported by an official.
At approximately 11:40 a.m., PM Modi will conduct Darshan and Pooja at the Jai Maa Daat Kali Temple near Dehradun. Following this, around 12:30 p.m., he will officially open the Delhi-Dehradun Economic Corridor during a public event in Dehradun and will address attendees, according to a statement from the Prime Minister's Office.
The 213 km long, six-lane access-controlled Delhi-Dehradun Economic Corridor has been developed at a cost exceeding Rs 12,000 crore.
This corridor spans Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand, reducing travel time between Delhi and Dehradun from over six hours to approximately two and a half hours, as stated in the announcement.
The project also includes the construction of 10 interchanges, three railway over bridges (ROBs), four major bridges, and 12 wayside amenities to facilitate seamless high-speed connectivity.
Equipped with an Advanced Traffic Management System (ATMS), the corridor aims to provide safe and efficient travel for commuters, as per the statement.
In consideration of the ecological delicacy, rich biodiversity, and wildlife in the area, the corridor has been designed with numerous features intended to significantly diminish man-animal conflict.
To promote the unrestricted movement of wild animals, the project includes multiple wildlife protection elements, such as a 12 km wildlife elevated corridor, which is one of the longest in Asia.
Additionally, the corridor features eight animal passes, two elephant underpasses measuring 200 meters each, and a 370-meter-long tunnel near the Daat Kali temple, according to the statement.
The Delhi-Dehradun Economic Corridor is set to play a crucial role in bolstering regional economic advancement by enhancing connectivity between key tourism and economic hubs and unlocking new opportunities for trade and development across the region.
This project embodies PM Modi's vision to create next-generation infrastructure that merges high-speed connectivity with environmental sustainability and elevates the quality of life for citizens, as indicated in the statement from the Prime Minister's Office (PMO).
