Dehradun, April 14 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi officially opened the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway on Tuesday, a project poised to drastically decrease travel time and improve connectivity with the nation's capital.

The newly constructed 210-km highway, which cost Rs 11,868 crore, is anticipated to shorten travel duration to just 2.5 hours. The distance between the two cities has been reduced from 235 km to 210 km, promising a significant cut from the previous travel time of 6.5 hours to 2.5 hours once it becomes fully operational.

The Prime Minister received a warm reception from a jubilant crowd during a roadshow in Dehradun, following his arrival in Uttarakhand for this inauguration.

Numerous individuals gathered along the roadside, chanting slogans such as "Modiji aapka swagat hai", "Bharat Mata Ki Jai", and "Modi, Modi", while waving the national flag and BJP banners.

Women and children, adorned in traditional attire from Uttarakhand, lined the streets to welcome the Prime Minister as his convoy moved past.

On his way to inaugurate the Economic Corridor, PM Modi also paid his respects at the Jai Maa Daat Kali Temple in Dehradun. He was greeted by children in traditional dress who performed the Durga Devi Stotram, and he took time to interact with other devotees present at the temple.

Prior to this, PM Modi inspected the wildlife corridor on the elevated section of the Economic Corridor in Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh.

Alongside him were Union Highways and Transportation Minister Nitin Gadkari, Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel, UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, and Deputy CMs Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brajesh Pathak.

During this visit, an exhibition illustrating the construction process of the wildlife corridor was held, with officials providing briefings to the Prime Minister about the project.

Additionally, PM Modi participated in a roadshow along the Wildlife Corridor, which attracted massive crowds eager to catch a glimpse of him.

Supporters and onlookers showered petals at PM Modi while chanting slogans like "Modi, Modi", "Bharat Mata Ki Jai", and "Jai Shri Ram".
