Saharanpur, April 14 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi conducted an assessment of the wildlife corridor situated on the elevated segment of the Delhi-Dehradun Economic Corridor in Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday.

Present at the review were Union Highways and Transportation Minister Nitin Gadkari, UP Governor Anandiben Patel, UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, along with Deputy CMs Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brajesh Pathak.

An exhibition detailing the construction process of the wildlife corridor was showcased, with officials providing the Prime Minister insights about the initiative.

Previously, PM Modi participated in a roadshow along the wildlife corridor, where he was greeted by a considerable crowd eager to see him as he waved to them.

Participants celebrated by showering flowers on PM Modi, proudly holding the Tricolour and chanting slogans such as “Modi, Modi,” “Bharat Mata Ki Jai,” and “Jai Shri Ram.”

Many attendees donned traditional attire and performed folk dances to honor the Prime Minister.

Later, PM Modi will offer Darshan and Pooja at the Jai Maa Daat Kali Temple near Dehradun. Following this, he will inaugurate the Delhi-Dehradun Economic Corridor during a public event and address the assembly.

This 213 km long six-lane access-controlled Delhi-Dehradun Economic Corridor has been constructed at an expenditure exceeding Rs 12,000 crore.

The corridor connects the states of Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand, significantly reducing travel time between Delhi and Dehradun from over six hours to approximately two and a half hours.

The project also features the construction of 10 interchanges, three Railway Over Bridges (ROBs), four major bridges, and 12 wayside amenities to facilitate uninterrupted high-speed travel.

Equipped with an Advanced Traffic Management System (ATMS), the corridor aims to offer a safer and more efficient experience for travelers.

Considering the ecological sensitivity, rich biodiversity, and wildlife in the region, the corridor has been designed with numerous features to significantly mitigate human-animal conflicts.

The initiative includes dedicated wildlife protection measures such as a 12 km-long elevated wildlife corridor, recognized as one of the longest in Asia.

Additionally, the corridor features eight animal crossings, two elephant underpasses, each spanning 200 meters, and a 370-meter-long tunnel near the Daat Kali temple.

The Delhi-Dehradun Economic Corridor is set to be instrumental in bolstering regional economic development by improving connectivity between vital tourist spots and economic hubs while opening new pathways for trade and growth across the region.

This project embodies PM Modi's vision of creating next-generation infrastructure that harmonizes high-speed connectivity with environmental sustainability, thereby enhancing the quality of life for citizens, as stated by the Prime Minister's Office (PMO).
