Saharanpur, April 14 (NationPress) - On Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi conducted a vibrant roadshow along the Wildlife Corridor in Uttar Pradesh's Saharanpur district shortly before the inauguration of the Delhi-Dehradun Economic Corridor.
A massive crowd lined the streets, eager to catch a glimpse of the Prime Minister as he acknowledged their cheers with waves.
Supporters showered petals upon PM Modi, waving the Tricolour and chanting slogans like "Modi, Modi," "Bharat Mata Ki Jai," and "Jai Shri Ram."
Many attendees donned traditional attire and engaged in folk dances to warmly welcome the Prime Minister.
Later that day, PM Modi is scheduled to perform Darshan and Pooja at Jai Maa Daat Kali Temple near Dehradun. Following this, he will officially inaugurate the Delhi-Dehradun Economic Corridor during a public event in Dehradun, addressing the assembled crowd.
This significant 213 km long six-lane, access-controlled corridor has been constructed at an investment exceeding Rs 12,000 crore.
Spanning across Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand, the corridor promises to cut travel time between Delhi and Dehradun from over six hours to approximately two and a half hours.
The project’s implementation includes the building of ten interchanges, three Railway Over Bridges (ROBs), four major bridges, and twelve wayside amenities to facilitate swift and high-speed travel.
Equipped with an Advanced Traffic Management System (ATMS), the corridor aims to ensure safer and more efficient journeys for commuters.
In consideration of the area's ecological sensitivity and rich biodiversity, the corridor has been designed with features intended to significantly minimize human-wildlife conflicts.
To promote the safe passage of wildlife, the project incorporates dedicated protective measures, including a 12 km-long wildlife elevated corridor, recognized as one of the longest in Asia.
Additionally, the corridor features eight animal passes, two 200-meter-long elephant underpasses, and a 370-meter-long tunnel located near the Daat Kali temple.
The Delhi-Dehradun Economic Corridor is expected to be instrumental in bolstering regional economic progress by improving connectivity between key tourism and economic hubs, while also opening new pathways for trade and development.
This initiative reflects PM Modi's vision of developing next-generation infrastructure that harmonizes high-speed connectivity with environmental sustainability and enhances the quality of life for citizens, as stated by the Prime Minister's Office (PMO).
