Kolkata, Aug 14 (NationPress) While subject to last-minute adjustments, it is nearly confirmed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will travel to West Bengal on August 22 to participate in two significant events: one administrative and the other political.
The administrative event will mark the launch of three new city metro railway routes: from Noapara to Jai Hind Airport Station, Ruby to Beliaghata, and Esplanade to Sealdah.
Following this, the Prime Minister is set to speak at a political rally organized by the BJP in Dum Dum, located in the North 24 Parganas district.
Initially, the Dum Dum rally was slated for August 20. However, due to the ongoing Monsoon Session of Parliament extending until August 21, the Prime Minister will be occupied in New Delhi until that date. Consequently, a new proposal was submitted by the Bengal unit of the BJP to reschedule the Dum Dum rally to August 22. Unless there are any last-minute changes, the Prime Minister's agenda for August 22 appears to be confirmed,” stated a party committee member.
The West Bengal BJP unit has also outlined a strategy for five public meetings with Prime Minister Narendra Modi within the remaining five months of this calendar year, which translates to one meeting each month.
Additionally, the party plans to host a major rally at the Brigade Parade Ground in central Kolkata in January of next year, where the Prime Minister will also speak.
According to an insider from the state committee, the venues for the upcoming public meetings will be strategically chosen to cover significant areas of both South Bengal and North Bengal, focusing on locations at the intersections of multiple districts.
This year, the Prime Minister has already addressed two public meetings in West Bengal: the first in May in Alipurduar (North Bengal) and the second in July in the industrial town of Durgapur in South Bengal.
During these meetings, the Prime Minister launched a sharp critique against the West Bengal government, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, and the ruling Trinamool Congress on various issues, including widespread corruption, increasing crime against women, and ongoing communal tensions in minority areas.
