Kolkata, May 22 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to participate in two events in Alipurduar district, West Bengal, on May 29 -- encompassing both an administrative and a political gathering, as confirmed by a senior BJP official who is also a party legislator.
Initially, the BJP state leadership had received information that the Prime Minister would be addressing a political rally at the Brigade Ground in Alipurduar. However, they were subsequently informed about an additional administrative meeting scheduled for the same day.
“We have been informed that the Prime Minister will also engage in an administrative meeting, but details regarding the venue remain unconfirmed by the Prime Minister’s Office,” stated Dipak Burman, BJP state general secretary and MLA from Falakata in Alipurduar.
On Thursday morning, Burman, accompanied by Alipurduar MP Manoj Tigga and other senior state leaders, evaluated the Brigade Ground in preparation for the political rally.
“This will mark the first rally in Bengal following the successful Operation Sindoor. We’ve learned that the Prime Minister has shown personal interest in addressing a rally in Alipurduar. The state unit has initiated preparations,” Burman remarked.
Political analysts perceive the selection of Alipurduar as holding strategic significance. Situated near the Chicken Neck corridor -- a narrow stretch that links mainland India to the North-East -- and adjacent to the gateway of the Seven Sister states, the district possesses both geographic and geopolitical importance.
“Alipurduar’s positioning establishes it as a vital connection between eastern India and the North-East. The Prime Minister’s choice to visit this district underscores its strategic value,” noted a political observer based in Kolkata.
BJP leaders in the state regard the Prime Minister’s visit as a substantial morale booster for the party’s grassroots workers, especially in light of the forthcoming West Bengal Assembly elections next year.
