Patna, July 18 (NationPress) During his trip to Bihar on Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the groundwork for development initiatives valued at over Rs 7,217 crore at a significant public gathering held at Gandhi Maidan in Motihari, East Champaran.
As part of the event, he also launched four Amrit Bharat trains, significantly improving rail connectivity in the area.
In a pivotal announcement aimed at boosting youth employment, PM Modi revealed that the Central Government has approved a new initiative that will grant Rs 15,000 to every individual starting their first job in a private sector company. This scheme is set to commence on August 1, with an allocation of Rs 1 lakh crore.
“New opportunities for new youth. The youth of Bihar will significantly benefit from this,” the Prime Minister remarked.
Encouraging the eastern states to spearhead India's development, Modi emphasized that the region, especially Bihar, is full of potential.
“Our goal is a developed Bihar and employment for every youth. Young individuals in Bihar should find opportunities locally, and we have made significant progress in recent years. Large-scale recruitment drives have occurred, with the Centre working closely alongside the Bihar government,” he added.
PM Modi also criticized past RJD-Congress administrations in the state, alleging corruption and neglect of the underprivileged.
“Under RJD and Congress governance, it was nearly impossible for funds intended for the poor to reach them. Those in power were solely interested in plundering. However, Bihar has demonstrated that the impossible can become possible. You liberated this land from RJD-Congress, ensuring direct benefits for the poor,” he stated.
Reflecting on the plight of impoverished families under previous regimes, he noted that residents were even hesitant to paint their houses due to fear of harassment, and women had to conceal their money as they lacked access to banking services.
“Such RJD leaders could never offer you a permanent home. Previously, if a woman possessed Rs 10, she had to hide it. Today, we have established crores of Jan Dhan accounts, providing dignity and banking access to the poor,” he concluded.
