New Delhi, July 18 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to embark on a visit to Bihar and West Bengal on Friday, where he will introduce an array of developmental initiatives valued at over Rs 12,000 crore.
Following a significant boost to infrastructure in both states, PM Modi will address public assemblies in Motihari (Bihar) and Durgapur (West Bengal), respectively.
The projects encompass over Rs 7,200 crore for Bihar and more than Rs 5,000 crore for Bengal, designed to enhance the region’s connectivity, drive infrastructural advancement, and stimulate employment opportunities, rural livelihoods, and digital progress.
During his time in Motihari, PM Modi will inaugurate and lay the groundwork for projects spanning the rail, road, IT, fisheries, and rural development sectors. He will also flag off four Amrit Bharat Express trains linking Patna, Motihari, Darbhanga, and Malda Town to key northern cities such as Delhi and Lucknow.
Significant railway projects in Bihar include the launch of automatic signalling on the Samastipur-Bachhwara line and the doubling of the Darbhanga-Thalwara and Samastipur-Rambhadrapur segments, valued at Rs 580 crore.
Moreover, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation for rail infrastructure projects, including a Vande Bharat maintenance facility at Patliputra and the doubling of the Darbhanga-Narkatiaganj line, totaling Rs 4,080 crore.
In terms of road infrastructure, PM Modi will initiate the four-laning of the Ara bypass and the Parariya-Mohania section of NH-319, with a combined investment of Rs 820 crore, enhancing access to the Delhi-Kolkata Golden Quadrilateral.
To promote Bihar’s digital economy, the Prime Minister will inaugurate a Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) facility in Darbhanga and an incubation hub in Patna, fostering start-ups and IT/ITES exports.
Under the PM Matsya Sampada Yojana, he will launch new fisheries infrastructure, which includes hatcheries, aquaculture units, and fish feed mills.
In West Bengal, PM Modi will lay the foundation stone for the Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd (BPCL) City Gas Distribution (CGD) project in Bankura and Purulia districts, valued at approximately Rs 1,950 crore, which will enhance oil and gas infrastructure in the area. This project will provide PNG connections to households, commercial establishments, and industrial customers, along with CNG at retail outlets.
Additionally, PM Modi will dedicate the Durgapur to Kolkata section (132 Km) of the Durgapur-Haldia Natural Gas Pipeline and the Bokaro-Dhamra Pipeline, also known as the Pradhan Mantri Urja Ganga (PMUG) Project.
