Patna, June 19 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit the Siwan district of Bihar on June 20, where he will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of numerous infrastructure and development projects amounting to Rs 5,700 crore.
The Prime Minister will address a public gathering after the launch event, scheduled around 12 noon.
In a significant enhancement to railway infrastructure, PM Modi will inaugurate the Vaishali–Deoria railway line project, constructed at a cost exceeding Rs 400 crore. A new train service will also be inaugurated on this route.
This visit will feature the flagging off of the Patliputra-Gorakhpur Vande Bharat Express, which will connect via Muzaffarpur and Bettiah, marking a new chapter in high-speed rail connectivity in North Bihar.
As part of the ‘Make in India – Make for the World’ initiative, PM Modi will also flag off the first export locomotive produced at the Marhowra Plant.
This locomotive, destined for the Republic of Guinea, is equipped with high-horsepower engines, advanced AC propulsion, regenerative braking, and microprocessor-based controls.
In line with his commitment to Ganga rejuvenation, the Prime Minister will inaugurate six new Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs) under the Namami Gange program, collectively valued at Rs 1,800 crore.
These initiatives aim to significantly cut pollution and enhance sanitation across towns in Bihar.
PM Modi will also lay the groundwork for STPs, sanitation, and water supply projects exceeding Rs 3,000 crore in various towns of the state, ensuring safe and clean drinking water for countless households.
Taking a significant step towards renewable energy efficiency, PM Modi will lay the foundation for a 500 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS). These standalone storage units will be established at 15 substations, including Siwan, Muzaffarpur, Bettiah, and Motihari, with capacities ranging from 20 MWh to 80 MWh.
The BESS will allow power utilities to store energy during off-peak hours and release it during high demand, ultimately helping to reduce electricity costs and benefiting consumers directly.
Continuing with his support for housing for all, the Prime Minister will distribute the first installment of assistance to over 53,600 beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Urban (PMAY-U).
