Jammu, June 6 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi, following the inauguration of the Chenab Bridge, the highest rail bridge globally, along with the Anji Bridge, India's first cable-supported bridge in Jammu and Kashmir, criticized Pakistan for its attempts to sabotage tourism and negatively impact the livelihoods of local Kashmiris by targeting innocent tourists in Pahalgam.
During a public address after unveiling several projects, PM Modi stated that terrorists linked to Pakistan deliberately attacked tourists to injure the economic stability of local residents.
He emphasized that these terrorists aimed to halt Jammu and Kashmir's development and harm the impoverished population.
The Prime Minister condemned the Pakistani assailants for attacking both humanity and the essence of Kashmiriyat in Pahalgam, asserting that their goal was to incite unrest within the nation.
He specifically mentioned Adil, the horse rider who was the sole provider for his family and was killed in the Pahalgam attack on April 22.
Recalling Operation Sindoor, PM Modi noted that the enemy was dealt a significant blow exactly a month ago, as Pakistan-based terrorists faced severe repercussions.
“Now, every time Pakistan hears the term Operation Sindoor, it will remember its disgraceful defeat,” PM Modi remarked, prompting enthusiastic applause from the audience.
He pointed out that Pakistan never anticipated that Indian forces would retaliate by breaching their territory and demolishing their structures.
PM Modi praised the resolve of Jammu and Kashmir's youth in combating cross-border terrorism, asserting, “The youth of Jammu and Kashmir are now determined to deliver a decisive response to terrorism.”
He also announced further support for residents whose homes were damaged due to Pakistani shelling along the border.
“Residents facing substantial damage will receive an additional Rs 2 lakh, while those with minor damage will be provided Rs 1 lakh,” PM Modi declared.
Highlighting the tremendous success of Operation Sindoor, the Prime Minister stated that the bravery of the Armed Forces, coupled with 'Made In India' defense equipment, taught the adversary a lesson.
“Operation Sindoor demonstrated the strength of Atmanirbharata. Today, nations worldwide are acknowledging India’s military prowess,” he added, urging citizens to support the Made in India initiative.
“Our ambition is to position India among the top defense exporters, which will create numerous job opportunities in the defense sector,” PM Modi concluded.
