PM Modi's Vision for Transforming Old Reading Materials into Knowledge Centers in Rural India

New Delhi, Dec 30 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi put forth a motivating concept aimed at nurturing a culture of reading and meaningful conversations in rural India, particularly in smaller villages and towns.

His proposal centered around the idea of “repurposing old newspapers, magazines, and books” that often become waste after being read. During a gathering with Members of Parliament (MPs), PM Modi highlighted the potential of these reading materials in establishing small community libraries, especially in regions where access to books and journals is scarce.

Union Minister Satish Chandra Dubey, while sharing this concept in a video posted on the X handle ‘Modi Story’, elaborated on how this straightforward yet impactful initiative could unite the village.

PM Modi urged MPs to gather their old newspapers, magazines, and books once they were no longer in use. Instead of allowing these valuable resources to go to waste, they could be neatly displayed on a table in a communal area for people to come together and read.

According to Dubey, the PM mentioned that in numerous rural locations, there is often a small space available where ten to twenty individuals could sit together. A few tables and chairs could be arranged in these spaces, with newspapers and books accessible for everyone.

People could gather in the morning or evening to read newspapers and religious or historical books, which could also be included. This would not only promote reading but also ignite thoughtful discussions among villagers, nurturing a culture of learning and exchange.

This effort, though simple, could yield significant results. It would foster a sense of positivity and unity, where villagers—whether they are farmers, social workers, or homemakers—could interact, share knowledge, and deliberate on important issues.

Through this initiative, the community would not only cultivate a deeper sense of togetherness but also enhance access to knowledge and information, thereby strengthening the foundations of learning in rural India, as stated by Dubey in the video message.
