In the village of Sirkheda, located in Madhya Pradesh's Neemuch district, numerous families are expressing joy as they transition from temporary shelters to pucca homes and gain access to various social welfare programs.
For these households, the scheme has not only offered financial assistance but also restored their dignity and self-esteem.
Several beneficiaries of PMAY shared their past struggles with IANS and described how the scheme has transformed their lives, leading to a sense of contentment and happiness.
The residents of Sirkheda, including children and the elderly, now enjoy a lifestyle marked by security and dignity.
Women have reported that they no longer need to store buckets or utensils inside their homes to protect them from rain.
Meanwhile, the elderly express that the scheme has granted them peaceful rest in their later years.
Vikram Bhil, a local villager, shared, "Previously, we encountered numerous challenges living in a kutcha house. During the rainy season, we faced significant difficulties. Now, thanks to the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, we have received support to construct a permanent home. We are truly grateful to PM Modi."
Usha Meghwal, another Sirkheda villager, expressed, "My husband and I lived in a kutcha house. Now, we have a pucca house through PMAY. We used to struggle during the rains with leaking roofs and flooding. We are thankful to Modi ji for this assistance."
Shyamu Bai, the woman Sarpanch of Gram Panchayat Sirkheda, noted that many villagers have benefited from the scheme.
"As of now, 37 houses have been constructed, with more underway. Life was once fraught with challenges, but now they reside in proper homes. Their living standards have remarkably improved," she stated.
