New Delhi, May 9 (NationPress) The Government of India’s Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY) continues to provide crucial financial assistance to families facing tragedies.

With an annual premium of only Rs 436, this scheme has emerged as a reliable safeguard for numerous households, offering insurance coverage of Rs 2 lakh to the nominee in the event of the policyholder’s demise.

A beneficiary from Deori Karaiya village in Maihar, Madhya Pradesh, exemplifies the scheme’s positive impact. Suddama Singh Tiwari, who tragically passed away from an electric shock, had registered for the PMJJBY. Following his death, his family received Rs 2 lakh through the scheme.

Tapan Savanta, Branch Manager at SBI Bank, Maihar, mentioned: “The scheme initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana, is incredibly effective. Our bank processed applications from eight individuals and successfully disbursed benefits to two. One received Rs 2 lakh, while another secured Rs 10 lakh. With a minimal annual deduction starting at just Rs 20, this scheme provides significant support in unfortunate situations.”

Suddama Singh’s son, Shivam Singh Tiwari, expressed his heartfelt gratitude: “After my father’s passing, we received this benefit under the scheme. The Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana has been invaluable to us, and I sincerely thank Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji for standing by us during this difficult time.”

His wife, Neeru Tiwari, added: “We received Rs 2 lakh through this scheme, and I am extremely grateful.”

In Sanjay Colony, Shivpuri, another poignant story unfolded. After her husband’s death, Raziya faced significant financial struggles. She later learned that her husband had enrolled in PMJJBY. After submitting the required documents, Rs 2 lakh was credited to her account.

Raziya shared, “This insurance amount has greatly improved our financial situation, and life is gradually returning to normal. I thank Prime Minister Modi for such a meaningful initiative. This is truly an exceptional scheme, and everyone should consider getting insured.”

The PMJJBY is part of a quiet financial revolution that began on May 9, 2015, when the Indian government launched it. Aimed at making life insurance accessible to the poor and underserved, this scheme was designed with simplicity and dignity at its core. Under the scheme, individuals receive Rs 2 lakh in insurance coverage for an annual premium of Rs 436.

As of March 19, the scheme has recorded a cumulative enrolment of 23.36 crore individuals and received a total of 9,37,524 claims. Of these, 9,05,139 claims were successfully paid out, totaling Rs 18,102.78 crore. Hence, in ten years, over 23 crore Indians have been covered, and more than nine lakh families have received timely financial support following the loss of a loved one.
