Prayagraj, July 4 (NationPress) Comprehensive preparations have been established to guarantee the seamless execution of both the Kanwar Yatra and Muharram in Uttar Pradesh's Prayagraj, as confirmed by officials on Friday.
Speaking to the press, Prayagraj District Magistrate Ravindra Kumar Mandar mentioned that all essential measures are in place for the successful management of the Kanwar Yatra, scheduled to commence on July 11.
He noted that all liquor and meat establishments will be shuttered along the Kanwar Yatra pathways.
The District Magistrate conveyed that regulations have been put forth for the Yatra, including restrictions on DJ height and volume.
Mandar indicated that primary Kanwar pathways have been designated, and road repairs are currently ongoing from Sangam to Kashi Vishwanath. A damaged railing on the Shastri Bridge is also being repaired. Furthermore, arrangements for cleanliness, illumination, and security have been established at all Shiva temples within the district.
All directives provided by the administration will be adhered to strictly, he asserted.
Mandar highlighted that a concrete platform is being constructed at Dashashwamedh Ghat in Prayagraj, which will assist Kanwariyas in collecting sacred water from this location.
Authorities have deployed police, the State Disaster Response Force, and divers at Dashashwamedh Ghat for enhanced safety.
In a bid to bolster security and sanitation, mandates from authorities in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Delhi require all food and drink vendors along the Kanwar route to clearly display the proprietor's name, employee details, and shop licensing information.
Interestingly, a political controversy has emerged over these mandates, with opposition factions arguing that the decision raises constitutional concerns, while the Uttar Pradesh government accuses the opposition of engaging in appeasement tactics.
During the revered month of Sawan, devotees of Lord Shiva undertake the Kanwar Yatra on foot, gather water from sacred rivers, and perform Jalabhishek on a Shivling.
Additionally, the DM mentioned that preparations have been finalized for Muharram on July 6, regulating the height of Tazias to prevent interference with overhead power lines and ensure public safety during the processions.
