Bengaluru, July 30 (NationPress) The government of Karnataka has announced that all preparations for the forthcoming elections of the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) will be finalized by December 1. Additionally, an affidavit will be filed with the Supreme Court regarding this matter within three to four days, as stated by Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar on Wednesday.

Shivakumar, who also holds the position of Bengaluru Development Minister and state Congress President, disclosed the timeline during a gathering with party leaders and officials from the Bengaluru division at Bharat Jodo Bhavan.

"The preparations for the elections pertaining to the five municipal corporations under the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) will be finalized by December 1. Hence, I urge all party leaders to make necessary arrangements, including the updating of the voters' list," he directed.

"We convened a meeting with officials from the Greater Bengaluru Authority on Tuesday. Election preparations for the BBMP have already commenced. After consulting with MLAs representing Bengaluru, we have taken measures to establish five municipal corporations in the city. Official preparations for the elections began on Tuesday. I will be submitting an affidavit to the Supreme Court concerning the municipal elections within the next three to four days," he elaborated.

"I have mandated that the processes of ward delimitation, addressing public objections, and all associated procedures must be completed by December 1. The voters' list is also expected to be ready by then. I encourage all of you to initiate preparations in your respective Assembly constituencies, wards, and booths," urged Shivakumar.

"In the meantime, our government has resolved to conduct a thorough caste census, which will include backward classes and all other communities. It is imperative that our party workers actively support this initiative. This mission has been entrusted to me by Rahul Gandhi. The party leadership has made it clear that there should be no expressions of dissatisfaction regarding the survey process. We even re-evaluated internal reservations within Scheduled Castes after comprehensive discussions. Except for Bengaluru Urban, approximately 95 percent of the data has already been gathered across the state," he concluded.
