New Delhi, Jan 31 (NationPress) President Droupadi Murmu is set to deliver her address to both Houses of Parliament on Friday, initiating the Budget Session. The President will speak at 11 a.m. Following her address, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present the Economic Survey 2024-25 in both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha.

This survey will offer an official evaluation of the economy's performance during the current financial year and outline the challenges facing the country.

The Indian economy is anticipated to grow by 6.6 percent in 2025, driven largely by strong private consumption and investment as per a report from the United Nations.

As stated in the Parliamentary Bulletin, the Budget Session will unfold in two phases. The first phase commences on January 31, with the Union Budget scheduled for February 1, concluding on February 13.

The second phase will begin on March 10 and wrap up on April 4. Discussions are slated for February 3, 4, and 6, with a reply set for February 6, provisionally designated for debate on the Motion of Thanks regarding the President’s Address, proposed by one Member and supported by another.

Minister Sitharaman will unveil the Union Budget on Saturday (February 1), marking her eighth consecutive time.

During the upcoming Budget Session, a total of sixteen Bills will be introduced, including the Finance Bill 2025, amendments to the Waqf and Banking Regulations Acts, and the unification of the Indian Railways and Indian Railways Board Acts.

Additionally, among the 13 other Bills anticipated in this session are amendments concerning the Disaster Management and Oilfields (Regulation and Development) laws. Bills related to coastal and merchant shipping, as well as one proposing to rename the Institute of Rural Management Anand to Tribhuvan Sahkari University and designate it as 'an institution of national importance', may also be introduced.

In preparation for the forthcoming Union Budget, Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju urged the opposition to cooperate in facilitating productive discussions in both Houses during the session. He expressed, "In the last two sessions, there was some hungama in Parliament that tarnished its image. I urge Opposition leaders and other MPs to engage and participate in discussions during this session. If the Opposition permits smooth proceedings, fruitful discussions can occur easily."
