New Delhi, Jan 12 (NationPress) Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla announced on Monday that Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will unveil the Union Budget 2026-27 on February 1, which coincidentally falls on a Sunday.

The presentation is set to start at 11 a.m. in the lower house, as confirmed by the Speaker during a press conference.

The Budget Session of Parliament is scheduled to commence on January 28 and will extend until April 2.

There had been some confusion regarding the date, since the traditional presentation day of February 1 falls on a Sunday this year; however, the Lok Sabha Speaker has resolved the uncertainty.

Earlier, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju noted that the first segment of the Budget Session, starting on January 28, will wrap up on February 13. The Parliament will reconvene for the second segment on March 9 and continue until April 2.

On the recommendation of the Central Government, President Droupadi Murmu has sanctioned the summoning of both Houses of Parliament for the Budget Session 2026.

On January 29, the Parliament will not convene due to the Beating Retreat ceremony, while both Houses are anticipated to meet on January 30, when the Economic Survey is likely to be presented. Additionally, January 31 will see no meetings as it precedes the Union Budget presentation on February 1.
