Mumbai, Jan 16 (NationPress) The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and National Stock Exchange (NSE) have declared that trading will take place on February 1 (Sunday) in connection with the Union Budget 2026-2027.
The pre-open market will commence from 9 am to 9:08 am, while regular trading hours will be from 9:15 am to 3:30 pm.
According to a circular from the NSE, "In light of the Union Budget presentation, we remind members that live trading will occur on February 1, 2026, adhering to the usual timings (9:15 am-3:30 pm)."
Both the equity sector and F&O and commodity derivatives will also be available for trading on this Budget Day.
The BSE added in a separate notification that "Trading Members should be aware that T+0 Settlement Session and Auction Session for settlement defaults will not be executed on Sunday, February 1, 2026."
The Union Budget will be unveiled at 11 am on February 1, presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.
This marks the first time since 2000 that the Union Budget is being presented in Parliament on a Sunday. Previously, in 2025, the Budget was revealed on a Saturday, and Budget 2015, under the late Arun Jaitley, was also presented on Saturday, February 28, 2015.
Earlier, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla confirmed that Finance Minister Sitharaman will present the Union Budget 2026-27 on February 1.
The Budget presentation will commence at 11 a.m. in the lower house, as stated by the Speaker at a press conference.
The Budget Session of Parliament is set to begin on January 28 and will run until April 2.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju noted that the initial phase of the Budget Session, starting on January 28, will conclude on February 13. The second phase will reconvene on March 9 and continue until April 2.
The Minister indicated that, upon the Central Government's recommendation, President Droupadi Murmu has sanctioned the summoning of both Houses of Parliament for the 2026 Budget Session.
Parliament will not convene on January 29 due to the Beating Retreat ceremony, but both Houses are expected to gather on January 30, when the Economic Survey is likely to be presented.
