Chandigarh, Sep 17 (NationPress) The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which governs Punjab, made significant organisational changes on Wednesday, including the substitution of its legislator Harmeet Pathanmajra. Pathanmajra has been evading law enforcement for more than two weeks following allegations in a rape case.
The party indicated that these new appointments are part of efforts to bolster its grassroots organisational structure.
Ranjodh Singh Hadana has been designated as the halka in-charge for Sanour, the assembly seat previously held by Pathanmajra.
Additionally, four fresh state observers have been appointed to manage and direct party operations throughout the state.
The newly appointed observers include Adil Ahmad Khan, Gayatri Bishnoi, Ritesh Khandelwal, and Asit Kumar. The AAP has also designated Halqa Sangathan in-charges for 27 constituencies, along with a Trade Wing Halka Coordinator for the Kharar constituency to enhance its grassroots outreach.
Vinod Kapoor has taken on the role of Kharar Trade Wing Halka Coordinator.
Discussing the new appointments, AAP Punjab in-charge Manish Sisodia stated: "The strength of AAP lies in its robust and dedicated organisational network. These new roles will invigorate our work on the ground. I am certain our fresh team will connect with every household and promote AAP’s principles of honest politics and effective governance."
Offering congratulations to the new leaders, AAP Punjab President Aman Arora remarked: "Punjab requires leaders who dedicate themselves to the people. These appointments are another step toward our commitment to provide transparent, accountable, and people-oriented leadership. I wish all the appointees success and encourage them to focus on fortifying the party and serving the people of Punjab."
Pathanmajra had absconded from a relative's residence in Dabri village, situated in Karnal, Haryana, on September 2, shortly after a Punjab Police team arrived to detain him in relation to the rape case.
Pathanmajra, a first-time MLA, has refuted police allegations that gunfire was directed at the arresting team. In two video messages shared from an undisclosed location, he criticized AAP’s central leadership, claiming he was being targeted by the "Delhi lobby" and had to escape due to fears of a potential fake encounter.
He has also expressed dissatisfaction with his own government’s response to the floods in Patiala, accusing high-ranking officials in the Irrigation Department, including a senior IAS officer, of ignoring multiple requests to clear rivers to avert flooding in local areas.
