Has Punjab AAP Failed to Assist During the Flood Crisis?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Ludhiana, Sep 24 (NationPress) The spokesperson for the Punjab unit of BJP, Pritpal Singh Baliawal, criticized the AAP government on Wednesday, stating they have failed to assist the population during this critical time. This has led desperate villagers to reach out directly to the Governor for intervention.
Baliawal mentioned that village panchayats from Sasrali Colony and nearby areas, such as Boothgarh, Gaunsgarh, Gadhapur, Raur, Managat, Hawas, Khwajke, Mangli Tanda, Mangli Khas, Garhi Togada, Garhi Fazil, Garhi Shero, Shekhowal, Kasabaad, Jeewanpur, Dheri, Bajra, Sattowal, Seera, Churwal, and Macchiana Kala, have sent a letter to the Governor, requesting the deployment of the Indian Army and expert teams to repair the damaged embankments of the Sutlej river near Sasrali, which have caused widespread devastation across the Ludhiana district.
The correspondence emphasizes that despite numerous requests, the breach at Dhusi bandh remains unrepaired, allowing the river to engulf fertile lands, crops, tubewells, homes, and years of hard work.
Villagers have cautioned that simply stacking sandbags will not suffice without a proper engineering approach and Army-level assistance.
Their plea to the Governor demonstrates their desperation and feelings of total neglect by the current state government.
In his criticism of the state administration, Baliawal stated: “When ordinary villagers are left without hope from their government and compelled to write to the Governor for survival, it reveals a profound governance failure. People are watching helplessly as their ancestral lands and hard-earned savings are washed away while AAP leaders engage in disgraceful propaganda.”
He highlighted that even the Disaster Management Minister from the Sahnewal constituency has been absent from the district while villages are submerged.
“This is not merely incompetence; it is betrayal,” he asserted.
Baliawal claimed that public trust in AAP has been completely shattered. From Delhi to Punjab, the AAP model seems reliant solely on advertisements and empty rhetoric.
He stated: “When people seek relief, AAP provides excuses. When Punjab requires leadership, AAP offers theatrics. Governance cannot thrive on media headlines and social media snippets; it demands accountability and decisive action.”
He urged the state government to enlist the Army and expert hydrology teams for effective embankment repair and flood-control strategies.
Furthermore, he called upon the Governor to take direct action to ensure that the afflicted villagers receive the necessary protection, relief, and rehabilitation.
