Patiala, Dec 20 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Punjab, Bhagwant Singh Mann, has laid out a comprehensive plan aimed at establishing the state as a prominent center for the aviation industry.
During a meeting with aircraft engineers and students at the Patiala Flying Club, the Chief Minister emphasized that the government is constructing a strong aviation ecosystem by offering high-quality, cost-effective, and globally competitive training that aligns with industry demands, thereby enabling youth to aspire for careers that were once deemed unattainable.
CM Mann stated that his administration is dedicated to fostering job creators instead of job seekers. He highlighted the forthcoming Aviation Museum in Patiala, which is designed to not only honor India’s aviation legacy but also motivate the younger generation to reach for the skies. The CM expressed his joy in being with the students currently receiving training at this institute, which includes 32 trainee pilots and 72 students from the Patiala Aircraft Maintenance Engineering College.
"Out of the 32 trainee pilots, a majority are the first in their families to venture into the aviation sector. While private institutions charge between Rs 40-45 lakh to become a commercial pilot, the Patiala Flying Club provides a subsidy of around 50%, bringing the cost down to Rs 22-25 lakh," remarked the Chief Minister.
With this reduction of nearly Rs 20 lakh, students from everyday backgrounds such as shopkeepers, teachers, farmers, and clerks can now envision themselves as pilots.
"An Aviation Museum is being developed at the Patiala Aviation Complex with an investment of Rs 7 crore. This museum will feature MiG aircraft, second-generation helicopters, simulators, and will celebrate aviation history, offering invaluable insights to both students and the public," he added.
CM Mann stated that the museum's goal is to inspire school students and young adults to explore careers in aviation, and on this occasion, the new website for the Department of Civil Aviation has also been launched at dca.punjab.gov.in.
