Chandigarh, April 16 (NationPress) The Punjab Congress organized a protest on Wednesday against the chargesheet submitted by the Enforcement Directorate targeting Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi in the National Herald money laundering matter.

Under the leadership of state unit President Amarinder Singh Raja Warring, hundreds of supporters assembled at the Punjab Congress Bhawan before marching towards the ED office located in Sector 9.

The activists were vocal with slogans directed at the Modi government, brandishing placards and banners.

The chargesheet also implicated Congress figures Sam Pitroda and Suman Dubey.

During the protest, Warring claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is feeling threatened and is attempting to construct a false narrative against the Gandhi family.

Warring further pointed out that even PM Modi recognizes the lack of substance in the case, which is unlikely to withstand judicial examination.

He stated, “PM Modi aims to misappropriate the ED and a compliant media to cultivate a perception of corruption surrounding Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi.”

Warring emphasized that PM Modi has failed to find any incriminating evidence against the Gandhi family during his tenure in the UPA government for a decade, which led him to pursue the National Herald matter.

“Where is the money that was allegedly laundered, as claimed by PM Modi?” he questioned, adding, “If PM Modi thinks he can tarnish the Gandhis' reputation with his fabricated narrative, he is gravely mistaken.”

The Ludhiana MP mockingly remarked that PM Modi is envious of the Gandhis due to their historical contributions and sacrifices for the nation.

“Now he (PM Modi) is merely attempting to tarnish their legacy,” he remarked.

On April 12, the Enforcement Directorate revealed that it had initiated moves to confiscate immovable assets valued at Rs 661 crore associated with the money laundering case concerning Congress-controlled Associated Journals Limited (AJL). Rahul and Sonia Gandhi collectively possess over 75% of AJL’s shares.
