Anandpur Sahib (Punjab), Nov 18 (NationPress) In preparation for the significant 350th martyrdom anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur, the ninth Sikh Guru, Punjab's Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav conducted an extensive review of security protocols, facilitation measures, and traffic management on Tuesday.
According to an official statement from the DGP, “I briefed all supervisory officers, emphasizing the necessity of maintaining the utmost standards of professionalism, dedication, compassion, and commitment.”
He was joined by Special DGP (Law and Order) Arpit Shukla and Special DGP (Intelligence) Praveen Sinha.
The grand commemorative events are slated to take place in Anandpur Sahib from November 23 to 25, attracting millions of devotees from around the world.
DGP Yadav reported that a robust contingent of over 8,000 police personnel, supervised by senior officers, has been mobilized to guarantee the safety, orderly movement, and comfort of the attendees.
He noted that the security framework is heavily dependent on advanced technology, with a state-of-the-art control room set to be established, incorporating automatic number plate recognition and facial recognition systems at all entry and exit points of the city, enhanced by surveillance drones.
The DGP also mentioned that the entire area has been systematically divided into 25 sectors, each equipped with its own sub-control room and helpdesk to facilitate efficient management.
For the convenience of the attendees, thorough traffic and logistical plans have been devised, including 24/7 shuttle services to all venues and tent cities, in addition to smart barricading systems strategically positioned to manage crowd flow and enhance ground regulation.
To streamline traffic management and minimize inconvenience for devotees, the district police, in collaboration with IIT Ropar, has implemented real-time digital mapping of parking zones, based on live occupancy and capacity, to guide visitors and support effective traffic management.
