Bathinda, Oct 9 (NationPress) Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and AAP National Convener Arvind Kejriwal have launched a groundbreaking initiative aimed at constructing over 3,100 state-of-the-art stadiums with a substantial investment of Rs 1,194 crore.

Speaking to a large audience, Kejriwal emphasized that this project is designed to channel the immense energy of the youth in Punjab positively.

"To promote physical health and mental well-being, we are commencing the establishment of more than 3,100 new playgrounds across the state today," he stated.

The new playgrounds will significantly support initiatives like ‘Yudh Nasheyan Virudh’ and ‘Rangla Punjab’.

Kejriwal also noted that these stadiums will help the youth steer clear of the drug menace and achieve their aspirations for medals in both national and international sports.

He remarked that these playgrounds would serve as beacons of guidance for budding athletes, with Rs 1,184 crore allocated for their development.

In the initial phase, emphasis will be placed on villages with larger populations.

The playgrounds will span areas from half an acre to four acres.

Each site will be tailored to meet the unique demands of various sports, offering facilities for volleyball, football, cricket, and other beloved local games.

Additionally, opportunities for physical and recreational activities for the elderly will be introduced, promoting sports as a vital part of daily life.

Kejriwal stressed that these facilities will not only be venues for sports but will also symbolize community unity in villages.

During his address, the Chief Minister highlighted that the previous infrastructure for sports was lacking, but now modern playgrounds will be constructed.

He expressed pride in Punjab's significant contributions to sports, mentioning that whenever the national flag is raised at international events, it is a point of pride for all.

Mann acknowledged, "It is incredibly satisfying to see four national teams led by Punjabis, including Harmanpreet Kaur, Shubman Gill, and Harmanpreet Singh."

The Chief Minister revealed that nine Punjabi athletes are part of the national hockey team, showcasing the state's prowess in sports.

He remarked that the state government has built extensive sports infrastructure, enabling three generations from the same family to engage in sports through Kheda Watan Punjab Dian.

Criticizing the Badal family, Mann noted that they misused their power and wasted funds on celebrities.

He pointed out that previous Sports Ministers lacked an understanding of sports, and political leaders controlled sports associations, living lavishly at the government's expense.

Furthermore, Mann announced the appointment of 300 coaches and stated that athletes preparing for international competitions would receive Rs 8 lakh each.
