Chandigarh, April 30 (NationPress) In a significant move towards tailoring technical education to meet industry needs by emphasizing skill-oriented experiential learning, Punjab’s Technical Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains announced the initiation of a groundbreaking B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering (Industry Integrated) programme.

Bains informed the media that a transformative Memorandum of Understanding was executed between Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University (MRSPTU) in Bathinda and Victura Technologies Private Limited (VTPL) of Faridabad.

This initiative marks a pioneering effort nationwide, whereby students will engage with the industry starting from their very first semester, with the industry campus regarded as a deemed campus.

The agreement was endorsed by MRSPTU Registrar Gurinder Pal Singh Brar and Victura Managing Director Hardeep Singh Banga.

“This is more than an MoU. It’s a commitment to the youth of Punjab that their education will transcend traditional theories, incorporating practical applications, advanced technologies, and experiential learning,” stated Bains.

He emphasized that this innovative collaboration is poised to transform technical education by embedding industry exposure into the heart of academic training, addressing the pressing issue of unemployment.

Highlighting the essential elements of the agreement, Bains mentioned that the programme will span four years, comprising five semesters of academic instruction at MRSPTU followed by three semesters of hands-on industrial training at Victura Technologies.

This programme will commence with a cohort of 30 students to ensure personalized mentorship and top-notch training.

The minister also revealed that Victura Technologies plans to set up a VTPL Advanced Automation Lab on the MRSPTU campus to promote experiential learning and innovation.

Additionally, the initiative offers financial aid of up to 50% for deserving students from economically-challenged backgrounds, alongside complimentary accommodation, meals, local transport, and a stipend during the industrial training period.
