Chandigarh, April 13 (NationPress) The Punjab Director General of Police (DGP), Gaurav Yadav, announced on Sunday that, during an ongoing operation, the state police successfully averted a potential targeted terror attack by dismantling a terror module run by Germany-based Gurpreet Singh, also known as Goldy Dhillon, leading to the arrest of two of its main operatives.

The authorities confiscated a 2.8 kg improvised explosive device (IED) containing 1.6 kg RDX along with a remote control from the suspects.

This operation was a collaborative effort by the Counter Intelligence team from Ferozepur and the State Special Operations Cell from SAS Nagar.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Jagga Singh and Manjinder Singh, both hailing from the Fatehgarh Sahib district.

Both suspects have prior criminal records and have been involved in various narcotics-related offenses.

DGP Yadav stated that the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has placed a reward of Rs 10 lakh on the fugitive Goldy Dhillon, who is affiliated with the Goldy Brar-Lawrence Bishnoi gang.

“By dismantling this module, the Punjab Police have thwarted the plans of the Pakistan-based ISI to disrupt peace and stability in the region,” he remarked.

The DGP further mentioned that preliminary investigations indicated that Gurpreet Singh has been engaged in plotting attacks against influential individuals in the state.

Currently, he operates under the direction of Pakistan's ISI.

Ongoing investigations are delving into their international connections and potential involvement in anti-national activities, he added.

In detailing the operation, Assistant Inspector General Gursevak Singh Brar mentioned that police teams received credible intelligence indicating that Jagga Singh and Manjinder Singh were allegedly acting under Goldy Dhillon's orders and had recently obtained a shipment of explosives intended for delivery to an unidentified associate using their Hyundai Venue vehicle.

Acting promptly, police units from Ferozepur and SAS Nagar apprehended both suspects in the Sirhind area of Fatehgarh Sahib and seized the IED from their car, he concluded.
