Chandigarh, April 9 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Punjab, Bhagwant Singh Mann, announced on Wednesday the commencement of a significant initiative to build 20,000 km of link roads, with a financial outlay of Rs 4,000 crore.

During a meeting, the Chief Minister emphasized that the primary aim of this campaign is to assist the populace, as these link roads serve as vital conduits for smooth transportation of goods and services.

He pointed out that link roads are the lifeblood of economic development in the region, aiding rural residents in their daily travel while simultaneously boosting trade and commerce.

Mann stressed the urgency of constructing these roads, many of which have remained neglected past their six-year lifespan.

He proposed categorizing the roads into three priority levels: top priority, priority, and needy, so that the community can reap the benefits.

The Chief Minister directed the PWD and Mandi Board to ensure that every rupee is wisely utilized in the road construction process, stating that contractors must maintain the roads for a period of five years.

Furthermore, he mentioned that the government plans to revamp the link road infrastructure by widening, strengthening, and upgrading these rural roads. He urged the Punjab Mandi Board and the PWD to guarantee high standards of workmanship and that all allocated funds are justifiably spent.

Additionally, the Chief Minister advocated for the incorporation of artificial intelligence technology in the demand-driven construction of rural roads. This approach is expected to maximize the use of current resources while ensuring superior quality in rural road construction.
