Hoshiarpur, April 7 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Punjab, Bhagwant Singh Mann, on Tuesday announced a significant initiative aimed at enhancing healthcare and infrastructure in the region. He laid the groundwork for a new Rs 268 crore medical college and a 300-bed hospital, while also introducing the Shaheed Udham Singh State Institute of Medical Sciences, which is expected to be completed within two years.
During a public gathering in Sham Chaurasi, CM Mann emphasized the Aam Aadmi Party's (AAP) commitment to providing top-tier healthcare services directly to the community. He outlined a comprehensive plan that will train 100 MBBS doctors each year and offer advanced medical facilities, including MRI, CT scans, specialized surgeries, and modern treatment options.
In an effort to bolster last-mile healthcare delivery, he also initiated the foundation stone for a Rs 9.18 crore Community Health Centre that will serve over 40 villages, along with the establishment of seven additional Health and Wellness Centres in the area.
Furthermore, CM Mann launched the Rs 99 crore Balachaur-Garhshankar-Hoshiarpur-Dasuya road project, a 105-km corridor that aims to improve connectivity between Chandigarh, Pathankot, and Jammu and Kashmir. This project is set to reduce travel time between Jammu and Delhi and will facilitate easier access for pilgrims heading to Anandpur Sahib, Mata Naina Devi, and Mata Jwala-ji.
After laying the foundation for several key projects, the Chief Minister remarked, “For over 70 years post-Independence, traditional opposition parties have exploited the state. Their regressive and divisive policies have hindered development, causing suffering among the people. However, in the last four years, we have ensured comprehensive development, fulfilling all promises made to the public in record time.”
CM Mann expressed his pride in the state’s development trajectory, stating, “It is satisfying to see that Punjab’s development is on the right path, and we are accelerating our efforts every day. The Punjab government has worked hard to bridge the gap of 70 years and is now dedicated to creating a Rangla Punjab.
“The AAP government is the first in India to implement the People's Manifesto, transforming all genuine demands from the citizens into actionable plans.”
Addressing opposition parties, Mann asserted, “They are conspiring to tarnish my image, envious of the progress we are making for the welfare of the people.”
