During the visit, Raghav Chadha presented a replica of the Golden Temple to the Vice-President. He expressed optimism that under Radhakrishnan's guidance as Chairman of the Rajya Sabha, the Upper House would maintain the utmost standards of democratic dialogue and inclusiveness.
The discussion also touched upon the smooth operation of the Upper House, significant national issues, and highlighted critical challenges faced by the state of Punjab.
Punjab recently experienced devastating rain-induced floods that submerged numerous cities, leading to extensive damage to villages and agricultural land. Tragically, at least 30 lives were claimed in this calamity.
In response to the crisis, MP Raghav Chadha stepped up to provide assistance to the affected communities, allocating Rs 3.25 crore from his MPLADS funds for the flood-stricken areas of Punjab, including Gurdaspur and Amritsar.
Out of the allocated funds, Rs 2.75 crore will be dedicated to reinforcing and repairing flood defenses in Gurdaspur, while Rs 50 lakh will support relief and rehabilitation efforts in Amritsar.
In a heartfelt video message, he appealed to the central government for maximum assistance to the flood-affected state and pledged to raise this urgent issue in Parliament.
