New Delhi, Dec 1 (NationPress) The newly-elected Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan officially assumed the role of Speaker and Chairperson of the Rajya Sabha on Monday, marking the commencement of the Parliament's Winter Session.
Having previously served as the Governor of Maharashtra, Radhakrishnan garnered 452 votes to secure the Vice Presidency, overcoming the candidate from the INDIA bloc, Sudarshen Reddy.
During his address in the Rajya Sabha, Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his congratulations to Radhakrishnan on his new role as the Chair of the Upper House.
"As we start the Winter Session today, it's a moment of pride for everyone in the House. We are delighted to welcome you, C.P. Radhakrishnan, and your guidance will be essential as we navigate significant discussions and decisions in this chamber," he stated.
