Radhakrishnan, the Vice-Presidential candidate from the National Democratic Alliance, was honored during the NDA Parliamentary party assembly held in the capital on Tuesday. Prime Minister Narendra Modi introduced him to the lawmakers, praised his exemplary political journey, and urged for his unanimous election to the esteemed position.
In a media briefing following the NDA parliamentary gathering, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju shared that floor leaders and NDA Members of Parliament warmly embraced C.P. Radhakrishnan and expressed gratitude towards the Prime Minister for nominating him.
Rijiju mentioned that PM Modi presented C.P. Radhakrishnan to the assembly and appealed for collective support to elect him unanimously as the next Vice President.
Praising Radhakrishnan's integrity, Rijiju remarked that his political journey has been free of controversy or corruption allegations. He highlighted Radhakrishnan’s humble yet impactful life dedicated to public service, making him an ideal candidate for the role.
“His election as Vice President would be a significant achievement for the nation. With decades of experience and a comprehensive approach, he will effectively manage the House proceedings,” he stated.
Rijiju also conveyed that Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is engaging with various political factions to build consensus around Radhakrishnan’s election, encouraging opposition support for his candidacy.
The BJP has begun reaching out to opposition parties, particularly in Southern states, to garner backing for the NDA’s Vice-Presidential candidate. The Tamil Nadu unit is mobilizing support given Radhakrishnan's roots and his successful leadership as the state unit chief. The Tamil Nadu BJP has called upon the DMK and other parties within the INDIA alliance to support his nomination.
In a show of support, Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) president Dr. Anbumani Ramadoss has backed NDA’s V-P nominee, labeling him as the “ideal choice” for the second-highest constitutional position in the nation.
