New Delhi, Feb 12 (NationPress) The Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, extended his warm wishes to the nation on the special occasion of Guru Ravidas Jayanti.

Guru Ravidas, a venerated figure of the Bhakti movement during the 15th and 16th centuries, is celebrated for his profound messages of unity, devotion, and humanitarian service.

Using the platform X, he expressed, "Warmest congratulations to everyone on the birth anniversary of Sant Guru Ravidas ji. His teachings convey the essence of humanitarian service, social harmony, and brotherhood—these principles will forever guide us."

Mallikarjun Kharge, the National President of Congress, also conveyed his regards on social media, highlighting a stanza from a poem by Guru Ravidas.

"Warmest wishes to all citizens on the birth anniversary of Sant Shiromani Guru Ravidas Ji, a trailblazer for social justice, who inspired a transformative consciousness in society through his efforts to combat casteism, untouchability, ostentation, injustice, discrimination, hatred, inequality, and societal ills," he posted on X.

Priyanka Gandhi, MP from Wayanad, also took to X to share, "Warmest greetings on the birth anniversary of Sant Shiromani Shri Guru Ravidas Ji. Guru Ravidas Ji courageously addressed social injustices through his writings, promoting the essence of humanity, equality, peace, and goodwill. His noble thoughts will continue to illuminate the path for our nation."

In recognition of this occasion, numerous states have declared a public holiday. Punjab, Haryana, and Uttarakhand have announced statewide holidays, while the Delhi government has also proclaimed a public holiday for its government and public-sector employees.

In Punjab and Haryana, government offices and schools in cities such as Chandigarh, Mohali, Gurugram, and Faridabad will remain closed.

In Uttarakhand, a holiday has been declared for all state government institutions, except for the secretariat and treasury. The state will also conduct cleanliness initiatives and adorn statues of Guru Ravidas to honor him.

A formal notification from the Delhi government confirmed a holiday for all government offices, autonomous organizations, and public sector undertakings, enabling the capital's residents to commemorate the birth anniversary of this esteemed saint.
