Bathinda (Punjab), March 20 (NationPress) A significant achievement was marked on Friday with the approval of the railway connection to Punjab's Talwandi Sabo, the revered site of Takht Sri Damdama Sahib, one of the five Takhts in Sikhism, announced Minister of State for Railways Ravneet Singh.
This initiative "is not just about constructing a railway line; it embodies the faith, pride, and long-awaited justice for Punjab," the minister remarked.
With this advancement, Takht Sri Damdama Sahib will now have a railway link to the other four Takhts, representing a crucial advancement in enhancing both religious and regional connectivity.
The Raman Mandi-Sadda Singhwala New Broad Gauge Rail Line Project is a vital infrastructure endeavor under the Mansa-Bathinda Doubling Project. Covering a distance of 42.9 km, the project entails an investment of Rs 1,118.47 crore, averaging Rs 26.07 crore per km. It will traverse the districts of Mansa and Bathinda, promising to significantly boost transport and regional development. The project will require 192.42 hectares of land, with 40.508 hectares in Mansa and 151.912 hectares in Bathinda. It will feature six stations, including two existing ones and four new stations at Laleana, Talwandi Sabo, Jaga Ram Tirath, and Kamalu Sawaich, along with a junction cabin at Kamalu Sawaich.
Engineered as a fully level crossing-free rail link, the project will include two major bridges, one additional major bridge, 56 minor bridges, and 55 road under bridges (RUBs). It will also incorporate 2x25 KV electric traction and the cutting-edge MACLS-III signalling system.
During the announcement, Ravneet Singh criticized previous state governments, asserting that despite years of leadership by the Congress, Shiromani Akali Dal, and Aam Aadmi Party, substantial infrastructure growth and respect for Sikh heritage were overlooked. He pointed out that while these parties exploited faith for political leverage, they failed to achieve concrete outcomes, including the railway connection of all five Takhts. He expressed gratitude towards the current administration under Prime Minister Narendra Modi for taking substantial measures to honor Sikh faith through infrastructure development, finally addressing long-standing community demands.
