Jaipur, March 20 (NationPress) The desert state of Rajasthan has been experiencing heavy rainfall for the past two days, prompting the Meteorological Department to issue a yellow alert for various regions, including Jaipur, Dholpur, Alwar, and more. Residents have been warned to expect strong winds and lightning.

A western disturbance has resulted in significant rainfall across several districts, particularly in the morning hours, with Jaipur being one of the affected areas.

This relentless rain and accompanying hailstorms have created a chill in the air reminiscent of February. Over the last 24 hours, Sirohi recorded a minimum temperature of 11.1 degrees Celsius, while the maximum temperature reached 36.4 degrees Celsius. Rainfall of up to two cm was reported in Tonk, Vanasthali, and Alwar.

On Thursday, the stormy weather caused daytime temperatures throughout Rajasthan to drop by as much as 11 degrees. Both Barmer and Alwar saw more than 10 mm of rainfall, while hailstorms have inflicted damage on crops in Tonk and Dholpur. Dense fog in Sri Ganganagar resulted in visibility dropping below 10 meters.

The MeT Department noted that light to moderate rain, accompanied by thunder, has been recorded in various parts of the state.

The highest rainfall measurement was 25 mm, which occurred in Nokha (Bikaner), while maximum temperatures in many areas have fallen between 2 to 8 degrees below normal.

According to Radheshyam Sharma, Director of the Jaipur Meteorological Centre, "The primary effects of the Western Disturbance are likely to continue affecting parts of the Bharatpur and Jaipur divisions in North-Eastern Rajasthan. Most other regions are expected to remain predominantly dry."

"Looking ahead to Saturday and Sunday, a weaker Western Disturbance may bring light rain or drizzle with thunder to the border areas of Western Rajasthan, while most other areas are anticipated to remain dry over the next four to five days. In the following days, maximum temperatures are expected to rise by 2 to 3 degrees, yet they will still remain 2 to 4 degrees below normal levels," he added.

Meanwhile, intermittent drizzle persisted through Thursday night in Sikar, with dense clouds lingering over the city into Friday morning. A rain alert remains active for this district, where temperatures have noticeably dropped following two consecutive days of rain and hailstorms.
