Delhi-NCR Set for Rainy Days Ahead; IMD Predicts Widespread Showers Across India
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
New Delhi, March 18 (NationPress) Residents in the National Capital Region (NCR) are preparing for a refreshing change in weather, as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicts rainfall over the next three days, from March 19 to March 21. These anticipated showers are expected to not only provide relief from the soaring temperatures but also enhance the air quality in the region.
According to the latest predictions, the weather in Delhi-NCR on March 18 will remain mostly clear, with maximum temperatures reaching approximately 33 degrees Celsius and minimums around 16 degrees Celsius. However, a shift is expected beginning March 19, when the sky will become partly cloudy, with light rain or thundershowers likely occurring intermittently during the day. The maximum temperatures are forecasted to drop to 29 degrees Celsius on March 19 and 28 degrees Celsius on March 20, while minimums are likely to stay between 16 and 17 degrees Celsius.
On March 21, the skies will remain predominantly cloudy, with light rain continuing. Following this, from March 22 to 23, the weather is expected to stabilize, transitioning back to partly cloudy to mostly clear skies.
The IMD also mentioned that there will be no significant increase in maximum or minimum temperatures over the next week, providing ongoing respite from the heat. The expected rainfall will play a vital role in maintaining moderate temperatures.
Additionally, the IMD has forecasted widespread weather activities across several regions of the country. Multiple areas are likely to experience rain, thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds in the coming days. Rainfall activity is anticipated to intensify from Wednesday in various locations.
In the northeastern states, relatively widespread light to moderate rainfall, along with thunderstorms and lightning, is expected to persist over the next few days. Isolated heavy rainfall is predicted for Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and Meghalaya during the early phase of the forecast period.
In the western Himalayan region, similar weather patterns are expected. Heavy rain is likely in Himachal Pradesh on March 19 and 20, while Uttarakhand and Jammu & Kashmir may experience heavy showers on March 20. Thunderstorms, along with lightning and gusty winds, are expected to continue across these hilly areas as well as the adjoining plains of northwest India until March 20.
Moreover, the IMD has issued warnings regarding potential hailstorm activity in certain areas. Himachal Pradesh might experience hailstorms on March 18 and 19, while Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, and Rajasthan could face similar weather on March 19 and 20.
