Heavy Rain Hits Delhi-NCR: IMD Predicts Winds and Thunderstorms
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
New Delhi, April 7 (NationPress) Heavy rain swept through various regions of Delhi-NCR on Tuesday morning, offering a welcome respite from the rising heat. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert, predicting strong winds, overcast conditions, rainfall, and isolated thunderstorms for April 7 and 8.
The IMD has also suggested the likelihood of one or two occurrences of rain or thunderstorms during these two days. Following this, partly cloudy skies are anticipated on April 9. The weather is expected to clear up on April 10 and 11, with temperatures gradually increasing, potentially peaking between 33 and 34 degrees Celsius.
This shift in weather is linked to an active western disturbance, which is anticipated to elevate wind speeds and induce a noticeable decline in temperatures across the NCR and nearby areas. The minimum temperature could drop by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius, resulting in slightly cooler conditions, particularly during the early morning and late evening.
Before this, Monday's weather conditions were typical, with the minimum temperature recorded at 21 degrees Celsius and a maximum of 33 degrees Celsius. The IMD predicts that the minimum temperature on April 7 will hover around 20 degrees Celsius, with a maximum forecasted to be approximately 31 degrees Celsius. On April 8, temperatures could fall further, with the minimum dipping to 18 degrees Celsius while the maximum remains near 31 degrees Celsius.
In the meantime, Delhi’s air quality on Tuesday was categorized as “moderate,” with an AQI of 134. Forecasts suggest that the air quality will remain in the “moderate” range until April 9.
Throughout Delhi, air quality also stayed in the moderate zone earlier on Monday. Anand Vihar recorded an AQI of 212, Ashok Vihar 118, Bawana 143, Chandni Chowk 110, and RK Puram/CRRI Mathura Road 134. In Ghaziabad, AQI levels were 149 in Indirapuram, 167 in Sanjay Nagar, and 158 in Vasundhara.
