Rajasthan Government to Elevate Drone-Driven Mining Techniques

Jaipur, Jan 7 (NationPress) Specialists will collaborate directly with mineral leaseholders in Rajasthan to introduce cutting-edge drone technologies aimed at volumetric evaluation and mineral management in the mining sector. T. Ravikant, the State Principal Secretary of Mines and Petroleum, announced that effective from April 1, all minor mineral leaseholders will be mandated to conduct drone or aerial surveys of their lease areas, which must include a 100-metre buffer zone, and submit thorough reports.
This initiative reflects Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma's commitment to embracing modern technologies and enhancing transparency in the mining sector.
Ravikant shared that the government has introduced a one-time settlement scheme to rectify inconsistencies between earlier mining reports and those generated by the new drone survey framework.
The Chief Minister has stressed the importance of raising awareness among leaseholders regarding this revolutionary system.
Experts, including drone producers, will conduct presentations to familiarize leaseholders with the new regulations, guidelines, and advantages of drone surveys.
Ravikant elaborated that the execution of this system, as detailed in the revised budget announcement, will clarify whether leaseholders have participated in legal or illegal mining practices or if any irregularities exist, such as utilizing unauthorized mining permits. The volumetric assessment system is designed to mitigate future disputes by ensuring leaseholders submit validated reports based on drone surveys.
The Additional Director of Mines in Jaipur, B.S. Sodha, has been designated as the nodal officer for the forthcoming program on drone-based mining evaluations.
Experts from leading organizations will demonstrate the applications of drone technologies.
The Director of Mines, Bhagwati Prasad Kalal, emphasized that the state government has provided explicit directives for the implementation of volumetric assessments and the one-time settlement scheme. A unified platform is being established to ensure leaseholders have access to vital information regarding the updated rules and procedures before the official launch of the system. This initiative marks a substantial stride towards modernizing Rajasthan’s mining sector, ensuring transparency, efficiency, and legal compliance through the deployment of state-of-the-art drone technology, he stated.
