Jaipur, Dec 11 (NationPress) In a recent session of the Rajya Sabha, BJP MP from Rajasthan, Madan Rathore, posed critical inquiries regarding the standards of higher education, teacher training, and the evolving knowledge development framework of 'New India'.
He requested comprehensive details on how the Multimodal Teacher Training Centres (MMTTCs) set up nationwide are enhancing teacher capabilities, along with special measures for socio-economically marginalized groups.
His remarks not only propelled the national discourse on educational reforms but also underscored the Modi government's transformative initiatives aimed at establishing the groundwork for a “New India.”
In response, Sukanta Majumdar, Minister of State for Education, shared with the House that as part of the revitalized MMTTP initiative launched on September 5, 2023, a total of 151 MMTTC centres have been established and accredited across the country. These centres offer modern, multidisciplinary training accessible to all higher education educators.
This initiative aligns with the vision of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which emphasizes high-quality teacher training as a fundamental element of educational reform.
Majumdar further elaborated that the scheme encompasses vital areas such as Indian knowledge systems, mental health and wellness, upliftment of disadvantaged communities, entrepreneurship, design thinking, STEM, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and leadership development.
Through these extensive modules, efforts are being made to elevate Indian higher education faculty to meet global standards.
Notably, since the relaunch of this scheme, over 3.22 lakh teachers have received training, marking a significant milestone in India's higher education sector.
Madan Rathore praised these accomplishments, asserting, “Empowered educators create a robust India, and the Modi government is undertaking unprecedented efforts in this area.”
He emphasized that educational reforms are not just government initiatives but are essential for nation-building.
Commending the Modi government’s focus on teacher development, traditional Indian knowledge, modern skills, and mental health, he noted that higher education institutions are swiftly progressing towards global excellence.
He stressed, “The magnitude at which the Modi government has propelled educational reforms is truly unparalleled and commendable for the future generations of our nation.”
