Jaipur, February 10 (NationPress) In a continued initiative by the Barmer District Police in Rajasthan to confiscate unlawfully obtained assets from seasoned drug traffickers, action has been taken against the infamous smuggler Birdha Ram under Section 68F(2) of the NDPS Act.

The illegally obtained assets, estimated to be around Rs 2 crore, comprise a residential property, a Hyundai Creta vehicle, and three sleeper buses.

According to Barmer Superintendent of Police Narendra Singh Meena, directives from the Police Headquarters and IG Jodhpur Range emphasized the need to target the illicit wealth accumulated by smugglers.

Responding to these orders, SHO Sadar acquired intelligence indicating that Birdha Ram Jat, who has been engaged in drug trafficking for over 12 years, had accumulated assets worth crores through illegal means.

Upon this discovery, information was collected from beat constables and pertinent departments.

Investigations unveiled that Birdha Ram had constructed an extravagant house in his hometown and set up VR Seoul Construction Company under his wife's name to launder his illicit earnings.

Additionally, he had utilized his illegal profits to buy luxury vehicles. Following these revelations, police compiled comprehensive property documentation and submitted it to the appropriate authority under the NDPS Act in New Delhi.

After reviewing the evidence, the relevant authority confirmed that assets valued at roughly Rs 2 crore had been illegally obtained, thereby issuing orders to freeze these assets.

In compliance with this order, on Monday, a police team led by Additional Superintendent of Police Jasaram Bose, CO Ramesh Sharma, and SHO Satya Prakash executed the operation.

The team confiscated the smuggler's opulent residence located in Galaberi village, placed an official notice, and seized the Hyundai Creta along with three sleeper buses owned by the accused’s construction firm.

Birdha Ram has a long-standing record of criminal involvement dating back to 2012, with a total of 10 criminal cases filed against him across various police stations, including Kotwali, Gida, Sadar, Sindhari, Mangalwad, and Nimbahera Sadar.
