While addressing a meeting at the Chief Minister’s Office regarding revenue collection efforts across departments, he instructed officials to devise a detailed action plan and to take proactive steps to boost revenue.
He also proposed forming a committee to oversee the attainment of revenue goals across different departments and to conduct regular evaluations of their progress.
Sharma highlighted that GST reforms have provided relief to ordinary citizens. In this area, the state has positioned itself as a national leader in data analytics, which benefits taxpayers.
He directed officials to implement a strong monitoring system to deter tax evasion and to maintain a transparent tax framework.
Additionally, he stressed the effective use of the Integrated Tax Management System to ensure that all tax-related services are accessible to citizens on a single, consolidated platform.
Officials informed him that the introduction of this system has substantially improved convenience for taxpayers.
Consequently, GST collections in the state have surged by nearly 8% compared to the previous year.
The Chief Minister reported that, thanks to the state government's initiatives, the Transport Department has generated 9.51% more revenue this year relative to last year. Furthermore, revenue from the Green Tax has seen a twofold increase.
Sharma instructed officials to take strict measures against overloaded vehicles and emphasized the need for a systematic and organized approach to vehicle scrapping.
During the meeting, it was revealed that, due to adjustments in DLC rates by the Department of Registration and Stamps, revenue from stamp duty has increased by 16.34% this year when compared to the previous year.
Moreover, revenue derived from mining lease auctions has risen by about 12% compared to the previous fiscal year.
The Chief Minister urged the department to adopt comprehensive strategies to eliminate illegal mining and enforce strict penalties against offenders.
He also instructed the Department of Registration and Stamps to streamline the property registration process and to offer maximum relief to the public. Sharma further called for effective actions to combat the sale of illicit liquor in the state.
Officials from the Excise Department reported that due to reforms in the Excise Policy, revenue from excise duties has increased by around 7.52% compared to the previous fiscal year.
Senior officials from the relevant departments, including Chief Secretary Shri V. Srinivas, were present at the meeting.
