Jaipur, Feb 27 (NationPress) A tragic road incident occurred on National Highway-25 close to Sarwadi village in Balotra district, Rajasthan, resulting in the loss of six lives and leaving many others in critical condition on Friday.
The collision took place at approximately 4 p.m. when a sleeper bus attempted to overtake and collided head-on with an oncoming trailer.
As reported by Balotra SDM Ashok Kumar, the bus was en route from Jodhpur to Sanchore, while the trailer was moving towards Jodhpur.
The bus driver was in the process of overtaking two vehicles when the driver's side struck the trailer coming from the other direction.
The impact was devastating, severely damaging the driver's side of the bus. Blood was splattered across parts of the vehicle, and several bodies were discovered trapped inside.
Among the deceased were two young brothers, aged 3 and 6. The victims have been identified as Narpat (50) from Chitalwana (Jalore), Nagaram (38) from Sayla (Jalore), Anusha (22) from Danta (Jalore), and the brothers Shivraj (3) and Yuvraj (6), both sons of Dharuram from Bagoda (Jalore).
Upon notification, police from Kalyanpur Police Station arrived at the scene and commenced rescue operations with assistance from the passengers. The injured individuals were evacuated through the emergency exit and taken to nearby medical facilities.
Dr. Sandeep Dewat from Balotra Hospital reported that nine individuals sustained injuries in the crash. Four critically injured passengers were referred to Jodhpur for advanced medical care, while five others are receiving treatment at the Kalyanpur Community Health Centre.
Six bodies were transported to Nahata Hospital in Balotra around 5:15 p.m., where they were placed in the mortuary for identification and postmortem procedures.
This accident resulted in significant disruption on the highway, creating extensive traffic jams in both directions. Police worked diligently to remove the wreckage and restore normal traffic flow.
Nagaur MP Hanuman Beniwal expressed his sorrow regarding this tragedy in a statement on X, offering prayers for the souls lost and wishing a swift recovery for the injured.
The police have initiated an investigation to ascertain the exact cause of this accident.
