Rajasthan Faces Yellow Alert: Rain, Thunderstorms, and Hail Expected
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Jaipur, April 6 (NationPress) The Meteorological Centre in Jaipur, part of the India Meteorological Department (IMD), has issued a yellow alert for various regions across Rajasthan due to an impending and vigorous Western Disturbance. A new bout of strong winds, rain, and isolated hailstorms is anticipated from Monday to Wednesday.
On Monday, as the weather system becomes active in the afternoon, areas including Jodhpur, Bikaner, Ajmer, and Jaipur divisions, as well as the Shekhawati region, are expected to encounter strong winds (40–50 km/h), along with light to moderate rainfall and sporadic hailstorm activity.
The system's impact is projected to peak on Tuesday, affecting several regions such as Jodhpur, Bikaner, Ajmer, Jaipur, Bharatpur, Kota, and Udaipur. These areas may experience thunderstorms, strong winds (50–60 km/h), moderate to heavy rainfall, and isolated hail.
Rainfall amounts are expected to range between 20 to 50 mm, especially in the Bikaner division, Shekhawati region, and nearby areas.
On April 8, weather conditions are anticipated to gradually improve, with light to moderate rainfall likely in isolated northern parts of Bikaner, Jaipur, and Bharatpur divisions, while most other regions are expected to remain dry.
From April 9 onwards, the weather throughout Rajasthan is predicted to be predominantly dry for the following 3 to 4 days, with maximum temperatures rising by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius.
The meteorological department has urged farmers to take necessary precautions, including securely storing harvested crops and produce, covering grains stored in open fields and mandis, and protecting their yields from potential rain and hail damage.
The public is advised to exercise caution during strong wind and thunderstorm events and to stay updated with information from the Meteorological Department.
Over the past 24 hours, the weather across the state has remained dry; however, the disturbance has led to partly cloudy conditions in numerous areas.
Consequently, temperatures throughout the state have been recorded below normal. The highest temperature noted was 35.1 degrees Celsius in Barmer, while the lowest, 15.9 degrees Celsius, was recorded in Lunkaransar.
